Literally speaking each humanbeings are badbreathres. Oral cavity contains millions of anaerobic bacteria as fusobacterium as well as actinomyces which functions on the protein of food materials and putrifies them. This course of action results in the formation of offenssive gases like hydrogen sulphide, methyl mescaptan, cadaverin, skatol, putrescine etc producing bad smell. When oral hygiene is not maintained properly all will suffer from bad breath. A lot of us control this by frequent brushing, tongue cleaning and gargling. After maintining cleanliness in the lips a lot of people have problems with offenssive smell because of different causes which has to be diagnosed as well as taken care of properly.
Some common causes of bad breath.
1) Poor oral hygiene:
If dental hygiene is not maintained properly the mouth gets the seat for tooth decay but no pain millions of bacteria which generate offenssive gases by degrading the meals debris. Bad breath is acute in those who don’t brush their teeth regularly and clean their mouth after every food. Snacks taken between meals can also take halitosis due to improper cleaning.
Badbreath is prevalent in just about all people in the morning on waking. During sleep there is less production of saliva.Saliva may have some antibacterial properties which assist you to keep the mouth fresh. Saliva conains oxygen molecules which is essential to make oral cavity aerobic. And so the decrease in it’s quantity during rest can make a favourable state for anaerobic bacteria.
Two) Food habits:
The primary cause of bad smell can be due to degradation of protein by the bacteria and hence all food products loaded with protein favours halitosis. Meat, fish, milk products, etc and eggs, cakes, nuts, pear is able to cause bad breath. Several food articles are able to make particular type of smell which could be unpleasent. Raw onion is able to produce typical bad smell. It is said that an apple one day keeps the doctor away,a raw onion 1 day keeps everybody away. Eating groundnuts also can produce bad smell. However if good cleaning is done smell can be reduced irrespective of the dynamics of food. Irregularity in timing of food can also produce bad breath. Little food articles taken in between the meals also can produce bad smell.
There’s formation of a thin sticky coating known as biofilm on oral mucosa as well as the tongue. This covering is thick on the posterior element of the tongue where numerous gram negative bacteriae are observed. The heavy coating on the tongue is definitely associated with badbreath. Actually a thin biofilm can create anaerobic state favourable for bacterial proliferation.
