For nearly all of us, choosing to be healthy is more an exam of will than an one off decision. Being “fit” covers a change in our lifestyle far more than simply embarking upon the latest exercise or diet program. In my view, the choice came about 15 years ago. I was aproximatelly twenty four years of age when friends of mine convinced me to begin visiting the gym as a team. At that time, I knew I did not actually like the way I looked, for this reason I thought it would be a good idea. Exactly how hard could it be? Well, it didn’t take very long before I knew the answer to that question. And to tell you the simple truth, at that time my workouts were not that tough. But getting up at 5am being in the gym by 5:30, certainly was, Also, since there was four individuals and simply one actually knew what he was working at, the workouts had been Very long. Too much time once you mix in the water cooler chatter that often took over some workouts.
Thus, after trying this approach for about 3 weeks I still wasn’t motivated nor did I look forward to working out and was about to quit. As luck would have it I believe, 2 guys in the team beat me to it, leaving simply myself and the only individual that knew something about working out properly in that moment. Which changed everything.
With just two of us now, we were much more focused and I got some really good coaching on the fundamentals. After a month of 1-1 time, we began increasing the intensity of the workouts and mixing in some really fun cycle courses. Somewhere in the following month, I saw a change. Not just in my appearance, but the outlook of mine as well as attitude were all effected. At that time, I was hooked. I worked out constantly at the gym 5 times a week incorporating weights, running, and cardio. I looked and felt good thinking this will always be my way of life.
And it was, until aproximatelly 5 years ago. In 2007, the mom of mine was diagnosed with brain cancer and then turned my life upside down. I quickly lost interest in a lot of the normal activities of mine including fitness. Of the next two years, I really let myself go and didn’t much care for getting back into the swing of points. A huge life changing event will do this to a person, and I was not at all an different. The wife of mine became really worried about the decline of mine in fitness and began encouraging me to get back in to it. I tried but definitely couldn’t get motivated. After lots of research and a close look in the mirror, I was able to pull back again the self discipline I previously had. It was not easy, and it had taken a great deal of planning and work that is difficult. And so, today, I want to share what helped me conquer the health demons of mine. Hope these help you.
